This picture was taken during the night of 14 - 15 October in Oostkamp. Work on the first installation phase of the new steel arched bridge started with two large cranes. After the Moerbrugsestraat was closed to traffic on Saturday evening around 9 pm, two mobile cranes were erected and the various parts of the two steel girders were transported via the existing bridge.
At approximately 1:40 am, the two tracks of Line 50A (Brussels - Ostend) were taken out of service for the actual installation of the main girders of the new bridge. In a following phase, the bridge arches will be placed and then connected to the main girders by means of steel hangers. The successive welding of the different elements will take up to three complete working weeks.
