On 25 October 2017, the International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) consortium (uGent) organised its fourth IMFSE Fire Safety Engineering Day in Zwijnaarde. The main theme of this edition was: “FSE: the road to resilience of critical infrastructure”. This conference was attended by 13 fire safety professionals and almost 40 students and professors from the Edinburgh (Scotland), Lund (Sweden) and Ghent universities. The Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering degree is internationally recognised as a leading training program in fire protection of infrastructure. TUC RAIL gave a presentation on the need for a performance based design approach for smoke evacuation in Belgian rail tunnels.
