TUC RAIL

Engineering and project management office specialised in railway technology

The plc TUC RAIL was established in 1992 as a subsidiary of the former NMBS. During the course of its 15 year existence, the company has proven, in various fields, its great expertise within the railway business, specifically on an infrastructure level.

Through the partners’ management experience in the private sector and the technical knowledge of the Belgian Railways’ internal affairs department, a synergy arose that serves as an example of a successful structure for the management of large railway projects. TUC RAIL not only took care of the construction of new high speed lines with the accompanying infrastructure but also the carrying out of expansion and modernising works and the transformation of existing infrastructure on the busiest lines and in the most complex stations and all of this within a pre-arranged time frame and within the agreed budget.

To do so, TUC RAIL studied all facets of the project: from the first feasibility studies up to and including it becoming operational, from the right choice of route to the approval of new lines, from the building of beddings to circuit testing on the overhead lines, from researching cadastral information to drawing up phasing plans.

TUC RAIL devoted a great deal of attention to the inspection of prefabricated materials (at the suppliers), site supervision and on-site quality control. Special attention was also given to observing safety regulations, particularly where activities were taking place close to operational tracks.

Alongside the construction of high speed lines in Belgium, TUC RAIL is also still involved in a number of other railway linked projects such as the Regional Express Net (GEN) in a broad area around Brussels, the Diabolo project, the construction of the Liefkenshoek railway tunnel and the expansion of the GSM-R network. TUC RAIL also provides the integral project management of large soil and groundwater remediation operations. In addition, TUC RAIL also makes itself known in external markets and takes part in foreign projects, mainly in Europe.

TUC RAIL has the ISO 9001 quality certificate, version 2000. This serves as a guarantee for the flawless execution of all tasks that it is assigned. The company has more than 830 employees and achieved a turnover of almost EUR 67 million in 2007.

In 2007 the turnover amounted to 66.961.359€. This means a 23,85% increase in comparison with 2006. This was realized by more than 650 workers, 25% of which have a university degree.

TUC RAIL is expecting a huge growth in staff in the years to come. Do not hesitate to surf to Jobs @ TUC RAIL to consult our vacancies and/or to apply spontaneously.
