At the end of November 2018, the Zwankendamme departure and arrival tracks were opened to traffic, including a set of storage sidings, a sorting line and the connection to the main track. It is an example of technical ingenuity, using the latest rail technology, very extensive equipment and numerous safety features. Environmental aspects were also taken into account, particularly through the realisation of a high and long earth volume buffer and water buffering.
This was an important milestone in the extension and modernisation of the Zeebrugge marshalling yard. TUC RAIL was responsible for the program management and a large part of the design and the implementation process.
