As part of Infrabel\u2019s energy transition<\/strong> strategy, a new solar park has been inaugurated in Avernas-le-Bauduin (Hannut), alongside the high-speed line between Leuven and Li\u00e8ge. Covering 3,8 hectares, it directly powers the railway infrastructure, enabling national and international trains to run on locally produced green electricity. This is the first solar park to be entirely financed by Infrabel, a real proof of concept for future installations.<\/p>\n

Our mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n

TUC RAIL was responsible for the entire project management, from launching the tender process to supervising the construction site and obtaining permits. The main challenge was to connect the 3.800 solar panels directly to Infrabel\u2019s traction substation located in the immediate vicinity, which is itself connected to Elia\u2019s high-voltage grid. This strategic location ensures an efficient power supply for trains running on High-Speed Line 2. This project is part of a broader program led by TUC RAIL focusing on three areas: green energy production<\/strong>, energy efficiency<\/strong> and integration into the smart railway grid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This park will produce 2,7 MWh annually. As Belgium\u2019s second largest energy consumer and owner of a vast real estate portfolio, Infrabel, with the help of TUC RAIL, is demonstrating intelligent use of its resources to benefit the environment. This pioneering project, carried out in just one year, marks a major milestone in TUC RAIL\u2019s expertise in photovoltaic projects.<\/p>\n
